It ranks by the order most families actually use: school tier first, then commute to Boston, then price (cheapest first), then property tax (lowest first). Every input is on the page and every town links to its own numbers. School tiers are editorial and shown alongside the state’s own figures on every town page. Data last reviewed — full detail in the methodology. These lists never use demographics as an input.
